This is a quick implementation of a PHP library for the REST API.

It's using curl but falls back onto file_get_contents, a fsockopen could be done but I prefer curl so I did not bother. I've looked at most calls but not all of them so it might fail on some of them (specific photo/album/video details)

It throws an exception when the return HTTP code from myspace is not 2xx, and unfortunately the message is embedded in HTML so the message might not work some day.

Also it has some basic profiling built-in. You can set bProfiling = false to not go through, otherwise a print_r(Space::get_calls()) would give you an idea on how many calls and how long it took.

The Key it the Application URI and the secret is below that on the application information.

CPAN has two OAuth libraries, OAuth::Lite and Net::OAuth. Does anyone know which is better?

Oauth.net doesn't mention OAuth::Lite, but it appears to be a newer module.

401 Authentication Error

Hello,

I'm trying to create the test application that ships with the MySpace Toolkit for ASP.NET. I think I've set everything up properly. However, when I try to test my app, I get the following error :

I realize that most of you probably aren't using ASP .NET. However, I was wondering if you knew of any general strategies for troubleshooting this sort of error.

oAuth / PHP / External App 101 ?

I am so new, I shouldn't even be writing apps - but the bad news is... I am.

I have an external PHP app.

If I set the canvas page to be an iframe, which loads the index page of my PHP app - my application works fine.

Except it operates as if the user wasn't 'logged in'...

"Aha - so I need to authenticate this somehow...."

Unfortunately, I have no idea what anyone is talking about... I code by example... & there are so many examples and not one of them makes much sense.

2 days and about 23 hours reading I am still none the clearer.

Is there not just a simple chunk of code I can throw at the top of my PHP index page that will say:
"Oh, I've just received a request from MySpace - everything seems to be okay here, so I'll render myself, and carry on as if this user was logged in"?

Would I need to code a container to send this information to the iFrame (and if so, why is there the option to have an iFrame as a canvas page?)

This application makes no other requests for openSocial data at all - so other than the one off verification I need that the user is logged in to MySpace, it pretty much stands alone.

Any documents in English, not Geekese, any working chunks of code with babysteps and explanations anything - much appreciated.

I have played around with one or two things without knowing what I'm doing.

There are some excelent and detailed posts out there, but they always seem to lose me by becoming far too 'coder to coder' instead of 'teacher to baby'.

Hello Guys,

I often don't understand why something so seemingly simple has to be so difficult. I was hoping someone could help point me in the direction of how to do this.

I am creating something in the vein of: http://www.hellotxt.com/dashboard

Basically, users supply an email and password and we will set their myspace status. Should be easy considering myspace has an API.

However, it has been a wild goose chase trying to figure it out. All I want to do is supply myspace with a email and password and set that user's status.

Can someone please help me out.

OAuth.net Library and Timestamps (MySpace Proxy Server Issue?)

Has anyone else experienced issues with occassionally invalid timestamps in the gadgets.io.makeRequest() when they're signed? The OAuth code has 5 minutes of wiggle room built in already. I'm getting timestamp differences of 720,000s (frequency ~ 1 in 10) - so working that out mathematically there's a MySpace proxy server that's time is set 8 days in the past.

External Application Authentication Example

I'm very new to the MySpace/OpenSocial application development scene and I have some basic questions about External Application Authentication.

First of all, I'm creating a Ruby on Rails application that needs to access MySpace user profiles and friends. I successfully did this for Facebook (using the Facebooker plugin) and was hoping to implement something similar with MySpace. The MySpace MDP test area has a nice five-step example showing how this works, but it seems to lack details on how to do it.

What I would like to do is to implement all five steps in my Ruby application. For example, how do I actually implement a process to get a request token (step 1) . Then in step two, I need to authenticate the user. In the MySpace test page, I get redirected to a page that asks me to authorize the 3rd party application to access my MySpace data. How can I replicate this in my Ruby application? Once I get this far, I should be able to get the access token and then be able to use the RESTful API at will.

I implemented the Spacer Ruby client (http://developer.myspace.com/Community/forums/p/240/831.aspx#831) and I think it's close, but it continually fails requests because it doesn't allow my application to prompt users to add the application if it's not added.

Can anyone help me?

Using the library like:

Official libs not valid zip archives

I've downloaded your official libs for JavaScript, ActionScript, and PHP but can't open any of them with either Windows XP built-in zip file support or Winzip. Both say they are not valid zip archives, and are either corrupted or invalid. What's up with that?

Generating oauth_token for external application using php library

I know I must be missing something basic here, could someone please post an example of how to generate a request token using the (official) php client? I've read a bunch of threads on the matter but I seem to be missing this one bit... Here's where I am at: I am creating an external web application that will provide a link that MySpace users can click, login, and return to my site with an authorization token so that I can call the REST interface from there. I understand that I need a token which I believe is a hash of... something. I know that if I go to Test -> External App Auth, I can use the generated link successfully; but the link is single use only. So, what am I missing? Is there some very obvious getRequestToken() or getAuthUrl() method I overlooked somewhere? I've looked at the OAuth classes, but I can't really make heads or tails of them, and I'm no stranger to OOP. Its simply not clear to me which methods in which classes I should be calling, all of the methods are public and there is little documentation regarding what each class or method does.
