Hi,

I am interested in using the MySpace API for some video applications, such as http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/external-videos/ .

I have just looked at the search API at http://wiki.developer.myspace.com/index.php?title=Search_API and am a bit disappointed about the video API.

While you can search for images with the following options:

sortBy	How to sort the images. Default is all.	Optional	sortBy=popular or sortBy=recent
sortOrder	Indicates whether to sort ascending or descending. Default is descending.	Optional	sortOrder=asc

there is no such thing for video. It would be great to add these parameters.

Also, I am disappointed about the details that you are providing the video feed with. While the MediaItems API at http://wiki.developer.myspace.com/index.php?title=Media_Items_APIs shows query parameters such as

* created

* language

* numVotes

these fields are not exposed in the video feed. Futher, the profileUrl is not actually a URL, but only a user name and not always unique to find - the person ID would actually be a lot more useful.

It would be great if you could add these additional fields in the results.

Single URL for both added and non-added users

It would be nice to have a single url to put in links that would be appropriate for both added and non-added users especially now since messaging functions have been introduced.

Directing to the canvas causes problems for non-added users and the profile provides no way to get to the canvas for added users. If the profile simply provided a link to the canvas for added users, this would work.

Make it Easy to Transfer App to Another Developer

Could you make it easier to transfer app ownership to another developer? Maybe add this feature in the Tools section?

forgive me if this has already been mentioned, but as I was listening to music on a band's myspace, I had the urge to browse other parts of myspace, but I did not want to stop listening to the song. In my opinion, it would be great if instead of being torn between staring at the same page for 3 minutes listening to a song or checking your inbox, comments, truth box, etc., we could keep listening to a song while browsing other parts of the website. perhaps a condensed music player in the nav bar?

Any chance to get support for gadgets.skins? It's nice to be able to match the style of the profile in the app.

Although myspace probably doesn't implement their skins in as structured a manner as other opensocial sites.

Hide App at My App features

Hi, I just want to suggest to myspace developer team that you guys should make hide app feature (not the one that hides an app from app gallery) at my app (developer.myspace.com/Apps.mvc).

Why? Coz when we create a number of apps, the lists are too long and we just want to concentrate on under construction apps only. Why not 'hide' the one that we have finished and don't have any intention to modify etc.

Passing parameters through install app page

Making a new thread, since well, nobody is responding in the previous ones.

Would it be possible, to allow people to navigate a user to the application profile page (www.myspace.com/#xxx) and then do

?next=encodeURI(some params).

So that the install callback, was sent those params? or the canvas page was sent those params on a redirect?

Facebook has this functionality, and it is very very useful for enhancing the applicaiton experience etc.

In user feedback - please insert app name in the subject line.

Currently I get emails like "this app is not working". And I don't know what app (out of 30-40) they are talking about.

Users think that I know what the app is since they clicked the link on the app canvas.

When are blogs getting support?

Photo Preferred List

I personally would like to make a suggestion for an update in the "My Photos" section.

I think it would be great if members had the ability to have a "Preferred List" option in the "Viewable By" area of "Album Options". This would give members the availability to have not only the "Me Only, Friends Only and Everyone" option, but would allow members to choose specific friends from their MySpace to view certain photos and/or albums. (Just as the allowable privacy options in "My Blog")

I believe this would be a wonderful addition to this already remarkably well done Social Network.

Post Dated Messages

It's becoming increasingly easier for people over-seas to get access to internet, but still not quite easy enough for them to write any good or relatively long messages to loved ones. Its not a suggestion I've heard before, and I'm not sure if its a popular suggestion, but it would at least be interesting if you could post date messages for delivery, it would also allow the forgetful to send birthday messages to people they care for without actually having to remember birthdays, which is a tad pathetic, but something I'm sure people would thank you for no less... Point is people over-seas could write long heartfelt messages to their loved ones and post date them, then edit them if need be. I understand that a draft is basically the same thing as a post-dated message, accept the automatic sending option allows the message to be sent on an anniversary, birthday, holiday, or whatever the circumstances may be, even if the person couldn't get to the computer that day. The same theoretically applies for any other busy individual, or someone with only occasional or limited access to a computer, or simply lazy, or apathetic towards relevant dates. Anyways, I definitely wouldn't prioritize this feature, being as you've no doubt got hundreds of suggestions that would have more impact, however, on the off chance you find the time, or it would be relatively easy to do, it would be a nice add. Thanks for the time.

In addition to XML refresh I'd like to see feature which enables refresh per surface -

something like a button on each tab on "edit source" which refreshes only home or only profile etc view from external XML.

Selectively view bulletins and status/mood updates

It would be nice to be able to view only top friends moods/status updates and bulletins like you can edit from whom to get friend updates/ notifications about blogs, friend adds, music updates, etc.

I added a bunch of people to play with on MySpace apps, and now all of my *real* friend's bulletins and mood/status updates are lost to me in a sea of updates from my apps only friends. It would be nice to be able to weed out the bulletins and mood/status updates from application only friends and only see updates from my *real* friends...

Bulletin Edit/Blocker; looks like this was discussed before but the message was deleted or the thread dropped. Like the "Friends Updates" editor I would like to be able to at least block certain users who constantly Post Game Updates, granted 've gotten myself into this mess but I don't care to see the Thousands of "Broadcasts" or "Shout Outs", or the "Hey look what I got in *******!'s".

I've sunk into the compulsive Gamer Community but I'd much rather here about actual Events and even Blogs than 90% Game Banteror Bravo. A way to Block Certain APPs messages would be ideal, I know I'm able to avoid sending Notification of my activities to others and would greatly appreciate the return in kind.

Application Bulletins and Communications

I would LOVE to see more granular controls over how applications communicate. With the advent of Apps, and in particular games like Mobsters, BLOCKED EXPRESSION , Heroes, etc., my bulletin board space is now useless. It's overrun with bulletins telling me to check out someone's new plain, or minigun, or whatever - bulletin after bulletin after bulletin. To restore some usefulness to the bulletins feature for those who have these apps installed, can we not implement a privacy option that allows users to block bulletins/emails sent from applications?

Let users under 18 browse sexual orentation!

To keep reinventing the wheel - does anyone have a suggestion for building the friend selector (similar to FB and Bebo). Either a good js lib (jquery?) or something similar.

There are many common tasks like this (rendering friend selector, invite etc) that I think a lib will be helpful.

(Starting to get disillusioned with this opensocial and myspace platform :( - especially after the ease of Bebo and FB).

Hello MySpace Developer Team member. I really do have an awesome idea that is burning a hole through my head right now... it hurts.

I researched Google to see if I could find something similar to my idea, I found something and my hopes just died. But when I clicked through it was nothing even close to what I had in mind. So my hopes are alive again.

I know you guys get alot of people claiming to have a "BIG IDEA" but is there a MySpace online agreement contract or something so I can disclose more information. I was thinking of hiring a programmer to create the application but I'm thinking why not go straight to the source.

Do you think it's possible that we can somehow discuss this further? Or could you lead me to the right people to speak to? This app will be very fun (It's not a video game) and useful for people. And it's meant to be used on the user homepage not the profile.

It would be very helpful if dev. team makes a very small improvement here.

Please include app. name in the subject line because users usually don't write it there. I have 30 apps and many times I just don't understand what app the user is talking about.
