    Profiles + Forums

First of all thanks for this wonderful API.

A client of mine asked me to create his profile and sent me a PDF with three different sections that would load as 3 different pages inside MySpace, this would be similar to creating a website and using three different sections inside it

I have been looking into the Profile editor and saw that the current modules will apply to the home page. Whenever i want to see a picture it will pop up a new window and the same happens with the blog.

    My questions are:

    - Is it actually possible to have three different pages inside a MySpace Profile? By page i mean the same as changing a section in a regular website, like going from "About us" to "Our work" (all contents are different)

and the second has nothing to do with the above, is just about the APIs:

    - Do you know if there is any implementation of a forum that could be used in the Profile? I know it can be done with the API, but i was wondering if there is something already done for this that will probably have more testing and work better than anything i can do from scratch ( i was thinking in linking a phpBB forum inside the API or something similar)

    Thanks in advance

    Best regards,
    Fernando

    App profile?

Are you talking about apps or member profiles?

Sorry Fernando, I cannot help with profile issues. You'll need to look into the regular myspace forums. These forums support developers working on applications. Thanks!

    Hi Rhonda,

Thanks for answering so fast, now related to Apps, my last three questions:

    1. Is it possible to assign an URL like myspace.com/<app name> to an application? If it is, how could i do this?

    2. It is possible to develop sections inside Apps by using MySpace implementation through AJAX, right ? (it will be possible to render new contents when clicking a link by sending an AJAX request to myspace through the API -- i just need to confirm this then i will look into the API and do any research needed from my side)

    3. Are there any Apps implementing forums ? i am looking for a customizable forum implementation that will go inside my profile/app (the same here) -- do you know any ?

    Best regards,
    Fernando

Yes, you can assign vanity URLs

Regarding how you'd like to build your app, that's up to you. Yes we support ajax :)

All app profiles are equipt with messaging forums, but they're just basic functionality that you need to manage. You can decide to use an outside forum if you wish and link to it :)

I don't think you can customize the in house forums.

    Hi Rhonda,

Thanks a lot for all the information, my last question would be how do you assign vanity URLs to applications? I tried searching for this in Google/MySpace Search  but i only get Facebook results :s

The same way you do for regular profiles.

Just log into the app with the credentials you provide when you create it.

From there you can change vanity, manage forums and also use CSS :)
