(I work with the MySpace Developer Platform team)

As per the terms and conditions (http://developer.myspace.com/community/myspace/termsofservice.aspx) you are allowed to put your own ads on your canvas pages.  You cannot, however put advertising on the non-canvas pages.

Any suggestions for networks to use? Adsense or YPN wouldn't work would it?

Facebook doesn't let you run on the Profile page, but you can run ads on your canvas. Can't you use the ad guys from Facebook?

I was using Cubics.com. I just googled, it looks like they have a blog post about this.

For clarification - you may run whatever ads you want on our canvas...but you cannot use the 728 x 90 ad space in the header to do so. That's our space. The rest of the page is allll yours :)

isnt any sort of advertising on myspace illigal? Or is that just posting click/lead ads? If so , putting ads for leads (such as ringtones and "Free xbox 360") offers shouldnt be allowed on your canvis or anywhere on myspace, says the actual myspace.com terms of service.

Yup, this is different than what we've done before. The whole intent of the platform is to allow people a lot more flexibility with their applications than they've ever had before.

When you sign up with an application, you'll notice you're being asked to accept an addendum to our regular Terms of Service. Among other things, that addendum grants you the right to serve ads on canvas pages.

So then, in reference to the Application Guidelines, under User Experience/Functionality (your app must not "contain or create SCRIPT tags pointing to external sources except those that are explicitly allowed")... scripts that point to Google AdSense and other ad-related resources are "explictly allowed"?

You accepted a different, supplementary terms of service specific to the developer platform when you created your application - that one explains the right to put advertising on your canvas page.  So long as the ads are legit (not to scams), they're fine.

Cubics just set me a mailer, supposedly they're running a "Double your money" campaign for anyone running ads on MySpace.

The mailer says to visit here:

    http://cubics.com/myspacepromo/

These guys definitely worked on Facebook, so they're probably a good bet for MySpace.
