    Re: Apps Section Problem

I understand the boost that Recently Popular gives to new apps.  Again, the issue is that under the current system, there is a quality problem - too many low quality apps, many that don't use our apis, have no social aspect, etc.

Recenly Popular hasn't always been featured on the Games page, and I don't see it making a return without a quality improvement. It remains in the gallery, of course.

On the flip side, some developers (including small ones) have complained that the current system makes it harder for high quality apps to stand out in the gallery.

CodeStorm how about you guys just feature the next app we put out, I know its selfish but it would really solve my problem...lol

I agree with you on the quality control issue, absolutely and it makes sense.

Where the recently popular listing is now does very little to give an app the jump start it needs to get rolling. This can destroy an rpg, as yes with social aspects and api use it can grow on its own in time... But game play wise the slow growth leads to a much less competitive and compelling game.

We are most interested right now because we are looking to launch the second version of one of our main games, Exmafia. This game has a .com version as well as a myspace version and is anything but filler when it comes to applications... Also it is not an rpg, or type of, you can find on any other applications, and the second generation is being built to have a fair amount of flash built into it as well...  We have implemented, and are continuing to implement social aspects. Yet we worry if things are this way when we launch, it could be a poor launch for a big title of ours...

Zynga doesn’t have animated thumbnails – except in their paid ads.

I understand be reading above, you said some developers where in violation because they where using animated gif images. But What about these apps below?

I don't see you singling theme out. Every 64x64 icon of those apps are all animated gifs. You can't point your finger and 1 developer and not the other, thats not fair, it it now?

     MMRPG network,

Joel mentioned something about submitting apps to an email distro of ours for consideration on the games pages.  I don't recall the details, but maybe that's an option.

igames4fun: Joel didn't bring up animated gifs, he only responded to the Zynga comment.
