This should definitely be handled in a more elegant way. This is likely an issue without our API when it encounters a deleted MySpace user. I will escalate this issue with the appropriate team and see if they can fix it.

There is nothing within the MySpace Developer Platform itself that would be causing this. I would strongly encourage your to take this up with MySpace's customer service team. Most likely the IP address of your developer or his ISP has been flagged for security reasons.

This might not actually be a bug.
Does the account receving the invite already have the game installed? or does the user you are trying to send the account too have messages from MySpace apps blocked in their account settings?
If either of those are true, the invite will technically be raised successfully but the user will never get them.
