They've added AJAX commenting recently, and I'm sure more updates will be coming. They really need to update the HTML and make it look less like a blatant ripoff of an old version of Xanga, I think. :P

Each application on MySpace has its own profile. Because of this, you need a unique email address for each application you create (this is very easy if you have your own domain name... Otherwise make a gmail account or something for each app).
Once you fill out that form, you'll be able to create your application :)

Depends on what you define as "useful"... Everyone finds different things useful. As an example, I use last.fm to keep track of the music I listen to, so I find the "What I'm Listening To" application pretty useful.
