    App Add,Remove Buggy

"Add this app" and "Remove this app" buttons are somehow buggy. When I tried to add "Honesty Box" this message was shown

"Sorry, you don't currently have permission to install this application.".

Do I need specail permissions to add a public application. In the meantime when I tried to remove the app "HottieGPS" I got this message

"Oops, remove failed. Please try again."

and I tried again and again and again but no success.

Hi Diana, thanks for the feedback. This is a new one to me.  I've been adding and installing apps (a lot of them) this am and have not encountered that.  Makes me wonder if it's individual apps that are having issues.

No, you should not need permission to view public apps. Do you have a link to the apps that are having issues so I can test them out?

I suppose I could look them up, I just figured if you had them handy.. ;)

    Hi again,

I was able to add and remove both apps in FF and IE without a problem.

I did however, get an error in IE when trying to access HottieGPS app.

When did you last try to add and remove these?

It seems that it is specific to my profile just. I tried that right now but failed to add an app. should I provide you a screenshot?

Sure, that would be great.  Also, do you have a lot of apps installed? this really shouldn't make a difference but at one time my profile was having issues (crashing on viewers) due to one of the apps. I uninstalled and reinstalled and they all worked fine.

Also, what browser are you using?
    Thanks :)

I was gettng this quite a lot on various apps but I thought it may have been that I was opening a number of app profiles in different tabs before looking at them. Can't recreate today.

When I got this message - I refreshed the page and that solved the 'again and again' issue.

I hope you can read the error message, it says "Sorry, you dont have permission to install this application" . I have four applications installed and I am using FF.

I tried everything, refreshed the page. Then cleared the cache, cookies etc but no success. Logged out, login again but still no success.Restrated the browser but still no success. It looks like something messy with only my profile. I dont know anyone else having such issue. It is also there in IE7

To avoid confusion I was just talking about

    Diana:
"Oops, remove failed. Please try again."
    message.

     Not

    Diana:
"Sorry, you don't currently have permission to install this application.".

which I can't figure out yet

     Hi Diana,

I can't reproduce this error.  I've tried on a couple of different machines using different browsers. I am going to try again, but I can't actually report it if I cant reproduce it or our devs can't reproduce it.

let me poke around and see if this is something that's happening to other people, or if someone can suggest a work around.  It may take me a few to get back to you.

I know you're using FF but can you use IE and let me know the results?

    Thanks

    Hey Sid,

You'll have to log in as your app (not as the developer) and friend your other profile to be able to install it.  When an app is not live, only the app's Friends are able to install/remove the app.

Note that we are working on a better way for developers test their app among friends before going live.

In addition to trying it in IE, try the Manage Apps link in the Applications module on the left side under the Control Panel.

    Re: App Add,Remove Buggy

rondata & johnny, thanks for the quick response.  however, i seem to be a "victim" of the following issue:

"Why can't I sign in as a developer anymore or see my applications?
There is a known bug once you set your vanity name after being approved as a developer. We are currently working to get this bug fixed. Please let us know in the forums, so we can restore your access."

i'd greatly appreciate it, if you could re-establish the access. thank you!

In addition, i wanted to ask if there are specific rules i could look up somewhere, concerning the guidelines for approval of applications. The specific app is simly supposed to be an interface, to allow users on our site to import their images and videos to their "timeline" and "events" without having to re-up them. Sort of like content sharing. The actual functionality will be handled on our server side through the MySpaceAPI, the App is just for providing us a means of authenticating the user without them having to share the MySpace login info with us. Will there be any issues with this?

    Thanks.
