App Invites

I get a strange error when I send an invite - "r is not a function"

Hello,

I have a stressfull error for 2 days. I'm still looking over the code but I'm not able to find the error.

That's the code that generates the error ! Is not my code. I don't know from where comes.

Hi all,

I can post an activity to the profile using latest (Nov, 9) opensocial sdk. In response i get a correct 'statusLink', but I cant see a posted activity in the Activity Stream box.

What i'm doing wron?

Hi, i would like to ask you a small question on requestshareApp.
Iam working on a myspace application which requires the app invites to be sent to friends.

Iam using [iframe] and opensocial 0.7
I could not get any kind of help or support from the forums.

Please can you help me, what are the steps i need to follow to send app invites ?
FYI, i followed the demo code here.

App Invites not called a second time

While testing my app (at development) i can not send two app invites, one after another, or send an activity and an app invite, the second is never called.

Do you know why this can be happening?

Hi, iam a myspace application developer an iam working on the task of inviting friends to my myspace application.

Iam surfing the net, but i could not get any ideas. I saw your posts here and there, and i thought you can answer my doubts.
Iam unaware of the function to be used to invite friends to my myspace application.

Actually i have developed an application called Downtown Wars on facebook, which i have customised again for my myspace application.

Can you please suggest me about the steps to be taken, so that i can send an invite to my friends to add my application in myspace.

I used 2 test accounts to send invite from one account to another. Today I notice that the invite form said the invite was successfully sent, but the receiving account get no invite. This happened on my app and other apps as well.

I used the new multiple users invite form like this:

opensocial.requestShareApp(selectedIds, messageInvte, doSendInvites_cb);

Where selectedIds is an array.

Hello,

I am using OpenSocial 8 APIs to sent App invites and messages in my javascript code. Everything works fine in Firefox.

The problem is with Safari 4.0.2 and IE8 where, though the Invites and Messages are being sent successfully, the call back function for them is not getting executed.

Here is the code,

How should I get it working in IE8 and Safari?

I am getting errors quite often when sending invites (opensocial.requestShareApp) and messages (opensocial.requestSendMessage).

Responses to the callback function of these responses will have response.hadError() with response.getErrorCode() of "internalError" and response.getErrorMessage() of "Error sending request.".

How should I handle this? Something I am doing wrong, or is this just normal behavior?

Tracking the users adding application via app invites

Hello,

I want to track the users who are adding my application via App Invites. I read in the forum that, myspace is sending extra parameter install_location=appinvites in the install call back. Is it appended to the install call back? For me the install call back is somehow not working.

Any clue, how I can track the app installs via invites?

Great to see this functionality in place at last, thanks guys!

...however I was very disappointed to see the ten invite per user limit. The policy of invite quotas has been a disaster over at Facebook. It benefits groups of low engagement, spammy apps which pool invites then cross-promote, while penalising the best and most popular high engagement apps, because users will want to invite ALL or MOST OF their friends to a really good app with wide appeal, and maybe only a few specific friends to a poorer quality app with low appeal. The invite quota means the number of invites sent by poor apps and good apps ends up the same. Users start ignoring all invites because such a small proportion are from the best apps. By allowing unlimited invites you enable users to send more invites for the apps they really like. Invites in general will be seen as LESS spammy, not more so because a greater proportion of the total will be for the apps friends really like.

The solution to 'too many invites' is educating the users to only send invites for apps they really like and swift policy enforcement against apps using forced invites etc. Quotas have been proven to be a serious mistake. I hope these quotas are a short-term temporary measure, please consider removing them as soon as you possibly can, before users start to see invites as poor quality and spammy, which happened over at facebook soon after quotas were imposed. The problems at Facebook were first caused by allowing forced invites and then made much worse by the knee-jerk reaction of imposing quotas rather than dealing with the forced invites promptly.

Thanks for all your hard work on the platform. I would really like to see apps take off on myspace as they have done on other opensocial platforms such as Orkut. Hopefully multi-user invites will help myspace apps to take off - up to now we've had to put myspace on the back burner and focus our attention on other platforms due to the lack of viral growth potential here.
