Can't tell what error Flash gets and didn't post before cause didn't know if it was just me and my code - but earlier....

Whilst finding the errors/failures useful for testing error handling I'm still concerned about the numbers I'm seeing so I was very sad today and wrote a flash stats app for myself - my apps recalls a number of times (5) before failing...

Calling a random friend 100 times at 1 second intervals - 16 attempts had to retry so in the end for the original 100 calls 120 had to be made

Calling a random friend 100 times at 10 second intervals - 27 attempts had to retry so in the end for the original 100 calls 136 had to be made

Again with calling a random friend 100 times at 10 second intervals - 15 attempts had to retry so in the end for the original 100 calls 116 had to be made

Not good and not my only issue....

The fetch requests are now working for us. We have been seeing 403's during peak periods.

Just now tried to access "Triumph" (not my app) and as it was loading I got a series of errors from the open social container after a request to get the viewer.

myOsTrace is not defined

myOsTrace("Ajax.readyStateChanged()")

Not sure what he's doing to handle the error, but the app then displays

API Name determination failed!

Which is obviously in his code. I'll report em as I find em.

All I can say is through out the [UK] day occasionally some of my calls have been failing. I've trained my apps to retry a few times before they die quietly - well with a white app screen of death - so I can't tell how often its happening. Can't tell you what errors they are either as Flash can't process them.

So probably not much help except it's failing more than it should but not enough to drive me mad. [Madder.]

All requests are returning data for me as of 9am PST. Reliability (and performance) seem much improved. Thanks!

We're seeing the same problem here. Something like 25-50% of newFetchPersonRequest sent are failing. Using:

var req = opensocial.newDataRequest();
req.add(req.newFetchPersonRequest('OWNER'), 'owner');
req.add(req.newFetchPersonRequest('VIEWER'), 'viewer');

req.send( buildPage );

The response from the myspace servers are as follows:

The page cannot be found

Please try the following:

Make sure that the Web site address displayed in the address bar of your browser is spelled and formatted correctly.

HTTP Error 404 - File or directory not found.
Internet Information Services (IIS)

Technical Information (for support personnel)

Go to Microsoft Product Support Services and perform a title search for the words HTTP and 404.
Open IIS Help, which is accessible in IIS Manager (inetmgr), and search for topics titled Web Site Setup, Common Administrative Tasks, and About Custom Error Messages.

Here is another one I see frequently (reload and it goes away most of the time):

I see a 404 on just about every other request/reload. It switches between 404's on owner, viewer, or app data requests and sometimes requests for friends.

I'm seeing closer to 25% failures. I just loaded our application 5x and firebug received a 404 error from the OpenSocial container 3 out of 12 requests.

The failure rate seems to be decreasing. My recent tests show ~80% success for new logins and refreshes. At this point, a new login seems to have a higher likelihood of success than when executing the fetch call after a refresh.
