Re: Submission denied email does not make any sense

So has anyone fixed thsi scrolling problem?
I'm creating a quiz, and you can only see 3 questions, I'm unable to scroll down to questions 4-12.. any ideas what I can do?

Hey Pat (and everybody else),

The TOS team pointed out to me that I wasn't clear on something, so let me clarify.

1. On your canvas page, you need to make it clear and obvious that you are requiring 3rd party registration not MySpace login information, which you have done.

2. On your install/description page, you need to say in your app description that 3rd party registration is required (so the user knows this before installation), which you have done.

Hello Pat,

I'm taking of this issue over from Rondata as she is being pulled into other projects. So let me get right into it.

Looking at your app now, it is obvious that you are not asking for MySpace user login information. I'll kick this to the front of the que and if nothing else pops up, you should be back in the game sometime tomorrow (Pacific time).

Note, it is NOT against the TOS for apps to that need a 3rd party login to utilize its functionality. You just need to make sure it is obvious that you aren't asking for a user's MySpace login.

Well, that's up to the users. But if I'm going to get denied for it, it would be best for everyone if it was in the app guidelines along with all the other rules.

Changing subjects a bit, while I got an email saying the app was rejected, the MyApps page still says the app is pending and hitting the "unpublish" button does nothing. Any advice?

ETA: I didn't see anything in the TOS about what should go into the app description or about third party registation. But I'm not a lawyer so maybe the TOS did mention it and I just didn't understand it.

I think that should be a given rules or not. Is it true that users can not use your app without signing up with you?

Users need to know that before they waste the time to install. Many people don't WANT to sign up for a 3rd party thing. I know, personally - I don't :)

Ok, I made the changes and resubmitted. It was rejected again, this time for:

no description saying that a 3rd party registration is required.

Obviously I don't have a problem putting that in the description (altho the description field is way too short and there's no mention of how many characters it can be), I'm wondering though where the application guidelines say that 3rd party registration is required.

I looked at this site (http://developer.myspace.com/community/myspace/applicationguidelines.aspx) and I don't see anything about that. I want to make sure I'm not missing a whole nother set of rules somewhere.

a couple of things.

Yes It does look like you are asking for MySpace log on information. That whole part about linking accounts looks fishy and I can see why this would have been denied.

Having said that, I tried to SIGN UP NOW (Which is what I assume is the name and password you're asking for on the main screen??) wouldn't let me register unless my email ended with case.edu? So I put case edu at the end and they want me to check email to validate the account... heh

Anyway if what i have assumed is correct above, you have to clear up the statement on the home page and make sure you put "You need this kind of account, do NOT LOG IN WITH YOUR MYSPACE CREDENTIALS" or something like that. I mean it really does look like that's what you're asking for those.

Don't make the main title LOGIN TO LINK YOUR MYSPACE.. that sounds totally wrong :)

As for working on a sat, I'm not really.. but I pop in front time to time.. and I have to run now - good luck with your app and I'll check back in late afternoon.

Hello,

I got an access denied email today. It was denied on two points:

1. Application prompts for Myspace account information

and

2. impedes browser functionality as it does not allow users to use the back button in the web browser.

Point 2 is correct and I have fixed that.

But I'm not sure about point #1. I do have a login screen but it is prompting for login information for my application, not the user's Myspace account information. Do I need to make that fact clearer on the login page (b/c now I can see how that could be misinterpreted) or am I missing something else?
