It has been a long time since this thread has been updated (over a year), but I was wondering if the desktop support for mySpace was ever released? I'm seeing that I can use OAuth to get "remote" access on another webserver, but don't see any way to get it working on the desktop. Is this possible and if so can someone point me to some documentation or example code? Thanks!

Will the platform ever start sending an oauth token to iframe apps so we can use the PostTo IFPC function? Or even just integrate the token into the container page and remove os_token as a parameter?

+1 to getting oauth implemented to support access tokens. You guys give the illusion that it is working in the External App Auth tester page, but it doesn't seem to actually work outside of that page. At least now we know!

To those playing, yes, you can get going with the .NET library, although you either (1) have to hard code the user id or (2) manually use the External App Auth to get an access token, copy it into your app, and then call http://api.myspace.com/v1/user to get the user id.

So would I. I would also like to know how to use your (addressing Shane) Spacer API to use the access token returned by the access delegation to get a count of the user's friends. Thanks.

We soon will be supporting the access delegation portion of OAuth that allows your app to use a specific authentication page we have which will provide you a token for use within your desktop application. We will keep you posted!

Yeah I haven't really tested it with a desktop application, however I assume it would work as long as you make sure you add a reference to System.Web in your project.

That should be sufficient to make calls to the API.

If you want to start making tentative steps, I can tell you that Joseph's .NET Client Library is a good place to begin. I tested it last night, and while you still can't do much, you can use the RESTful Api to pull data from MySpace.

Is it possible to build desktop applications with this API? For example, I have a photo screen saver that works for Facebook and I'd like to add MySpace support.
