That sounds like a regular on site app. MySpace apps use MySpaceID and allow users to go to a website and enter their myspace user name and password in - in order to connect with their myspace data.

Local apps are in our app gallery and allow members to add them to their pages.. such as BLOCKED EXPRESSION , Own your firends, etc.

For more info, see our wiki for MySpaceI: http://wiki.developer.myspace.com/index.php?title=Category:MySpaceID

The "external domain" field seems to have disappeared from On-site Apps. Does anyone know why? And was this a result of MySpaceID app introduction?

They used to be one, with certain fields indicating myspaceID such as the external domain field.

Now when you build an app you select either myspaceID or on-site apps. If you click on MySpace ID you'll see those fields when you're building your app, with Onsite apps, you won't see that field.

     Thanks Rhonda.

So if we for any reason wish to change the external domain on legacy app, we cannot do that anymore? And we need to create a new MySpaceID app?

Yes, if you plan to switch from local to myspace ID (or vice versa)

Re: What is diffrent between MySpaceID and App On-Site App

    Hi,

With the removal of "external domain" field from on-site apps, I am being forced to create a new "MySpaceID" app for my new system/server.

There are a couple of things that I cannot seem to do with MySpaceID apps

    1. With previous applications (seen under Profile->My Apps-> Applications), I could select to "View App" and go to out iFramed HTML app (which is defined under 'Edit App Source' -> 'Canvas Surface' ). I cannot define "App Source" and there is no "View App" link for MySpaceID apps. This is probably due to the service MySpaceId is trying to provide. But now, I have an old server that uses On-site app with an accessible iframed HTML app and the new server that uses MySpaceID app but cannot have iframed HTML app.

    2. On-site application seem to have a definite application ID numbers and ways/links to access them directly. How do I know what is the application ID of MySpaceID (Is it OAuth Consumer Key?) and what is the link to access them directly?

How do I solve the issue where I am having to deal with two different kind of MySpace apps for my single product

    Thanks in advance

    XD
