    contacts/ friends API

I am part of a team writing the requirements for a really cool site that everyone expects will grow exponentially. Users will be highly motivated to invite their friends to join and we naturally want to make it as easy possible for them to import their contacts. Yahoo, Hotmail, Gmail each have an API. There is a company advertising the code to import contacts from MySpace and they even claim that MySpace is a client. We have kind of assumed that with our volume MySpace would simply block us.

I understand that MySpace hosted the Portable Contacts Summit last month. Do you anticipate that this initiative or some other will allow MySpace users be able to import their friends names (or user name) along with their email addresses to a third party site such as ours (which will not be a competitor to MySpace) for the express purpose of sending out invites for their friends to join them on this really cool and engaging website? Do you think that it would be reasonable to expect an option for MySpace users to have portability with their contacts/ friends to become a reality before the end of the year?

I apologize if this question has been asked/answered

I am also interested in using the PortableContacts API to access MySpace friend lists.

I found this documentation but I haven't tried sending a query to the server:
