    Beastie Boys--App Denied

    App Name: Beastie Boys
    App ID: 380342784
MS Feedback: MySpace Applications and MySpace Application Content must not contain nudity & sexually explicit images.

I guess the first video in that app, She's Crafty, is a little racy--string bikinis and one quick flashing from the audience. We're pulling the video off of YouTube though so it's obviously not too bad. Was wondering if we change the app to Ages 18+ only, would that be enough to get approved or do we need to remove that video? I breezed through the rest of the videos and didn't see anything else, but if there's more let me know. Content is all controlled by the folks at Sony, so it's ultimately up to them to determine if they want to pull videos so we may just have to sandbag this one for now.

    Thanks,
    ~Brock

You can do either route you explained blow (taking out the video or age restricting the app). Though, taking out the video would probably be an easier way to do things.

I may take a couple of days/weeks to get approval to remove the video, so I'll try the age restriction route for now. If I can get the video out next week would I be able to resubmit the app without the age restriction?

    Thanks,

Yep, once you get an age gate in there, you can republish. Though, note that the age verification API is launching soon. So once that's in place you don't have to code your own verification. Johnny

So age verification is something we need to implement in the app? That wasn't clear to me, I just assumed it must be part of the install process.

Reading the guidelines I'm not sure age verification is really going to make a difference, it only talks about dating and alcohol. Think I'm just going to shelf this one and wait and see if Sony wants to pull the video.

Yes, you need to add it into the app until the age verification API launches.  When that happens, you'll be able to configure this from the app details instead of adding code. That's coming soon (in the next few weeks)
