Will apps be available for music artists to install on their profiles in the same way as other users do? Also, is there a way of retrieving info on the tracks that an artist has uploaded to their profile.. ie, track name, number of plays, etc?

Well, I can't really answer your question, but I'm a Music artist, and I've made Google Gadgets before and have messed with a little bit of OpenSocial and I've noticed nothing different on my page yet, but I'm unsure if this is across all of the myspace developers or just music page developers (hopefully that answers your question)

Well ive been testing an app on my own profile which all works fine but then i added it to a music artists profile and the app wouldnt show which kinda suggests to me that music artist profiles dont act the same as normal profiles with regard to apps. Would be nice to get some clarification on this from the mdp team

I'd also be really interested to know when apps will work on artist profiles.

Yes, At the moment Apps are unable to be added to what we call "special profiles", such as bands/artists.  We know it's a bit of a bummer right now, but it is something we're working on and will have a deployment for shortly.   However I can't give any dates as it's part of a stack of work we need to complete that's being prioritized.

As for being able to reference tracks, it's not something I beleive we've looked at.  There are some limitations on what we can do in this area for rights and permissions reasons (an artist may or may not want their music - or info about it, such as number of plays - accessed by 3rd party apps, etc).

If you have some examples of what you are trying to do (email me directly if you prefer, bmetcalfe [at] myspace.com) it would help me build up a usecase for this!

Hi Ben, i think theres quite a few devs waiting for some info on when music profile rendering will be available so thanx for the response, its much appreciated.... any clues as to where in the priority list it is? :)

With regards to making the track information available i understand that there may be a privacy issue.. although the info is public for all to see already.

Is there any way to pull down a band's schedule via the API?

would be nice to have a section on myspace will it shows all the people who have added your music and has music count where u can seee how many people added your songs...... i think this would motivate artists and help them... this would be a great app if it could be made!!!!
