My application does not meet criteria for approval get rejected, the Reason: app loads in blank on install page.

My application is a swf, size about 177K. It will take time to load the swf.
due to MySpace swf container does not have a preloader. before the swf is
fully loaded. the canvas page is blank. I believe that is the reason.

Dear MDP reviewers, please wait for a few seconds untill the swf is fully loaded.

PS: I play and test my app every day. It works but your have to wait until the swf is loaded.

It seems to be a problem with the myspace review process and swf's (though they may deny it and I'll be in trouble again).

I raised this a while ago http://developer.myspace.com/Community/forums/t/1443.aspx and though my app eventually went live (with no changes between rejection and approval) the underlying problem doesn't seemed to have been found or fixed.

From other threads Mark and others have faced a similar problem - whether its because we are all non US I don't know.

If you want a sanity check get your add to add me as friend and I'll have a play. [I was going to do a Flash Puzzler but I've kinda put app dev on hold for a while].

thanks you for your help, I love to talk Johnny.
The same app also ports to Facebook, Bebo, Friendster, and Hi5
The Facebook, Bebo, and Friendster use their own API, therefore they
do not have problems. but hi5 also uses opensocial API like MySpace,
it also has the same behavior.

Hey Joey,

I am looking at your app and do not see that it has ever been rejected.  Maybe you rejected from another social network?

Looks like your MySpace app (105692) went into development on 4/5 and was not pulished for review until 4/16 10:47pm.  So you should check your apps today and tomorrow for an updated status from the MDP review team.

I have reduced my swf size but no codes changed, and resumitted it, (App Status: Pending)
please following it. It is truely work in my installation, and both profile & home page
just a swf embedded with a jpg image. If needed, I am willing give you my account password
for your test. The problems, app loads a blank screen as I described in previous comments.
You should be careful when you play with flash swf. When your browser first time loading swf,
if it is incompleted. You should clean up you browser cached and restart browser again,
otherwise browser will load your previous incompleted swf.  

by the way, I also implemented JC Photo Puzzle as an external application for your reference.
You can check it at  http://myspace.longhing.com , the external application will redirect you
to myspace login in screen. after you authenticated, the app screen view is the same
same as canvas view, except it is outside myspace. 

(User must have myspace album and photos to play with my app)

I was just offering to give you a sanity check that your app does work on myspace. I've had the same message as you for most of my flash apps going through the review process and its very frustrating {though not created a new one for a few weeks}.

 I am have the same problem with a couple of my apps, but they were also rejected for another reason. I just resubmitted I hope it works this time. I am like 95% the flash on profile page works fine...

Hey Joey, I am really dumbfounded here as I do not see any rejection notes on your JC Photo Puzzle. It was even approved on 4/19 and is live now. I searched for it and installed it from the app gallery. So where do you see this note. Can you send me a screen grab? Johnny

I am glad that my app is approved on 4/19 and is live now.
It was initially rejected, and I received email notes at apr 17.
Let me know if you want me to forward the email to you.

I guest reviewer might have read my 4/18 post which I explained
why "Application loads a blank screen after application is installed",
It really doesn't matter now.

I received following feedback from MySpace team on publishing my application

 

"User Experience / Functionality :  If your application is still going through development, please complete the application before submission as this area is not intended for testing."

 

In above message, what changes need  to be done in application is not mentioned. And am also unable to make out as my application works fine at my end and It doesn’t seem to be incomplete. I have tested the application by installing it in two different myspace accounts and I didn’t come across any incomplete feature.

 

 Kindly let me know if I have missed out anything unknowingly, in terms of “User Experience/Functionality” .

I just had to comment on an issue here. If your swf takes a long time to load, you should put something on the screen telling that to the user. That's just plain good user interface. How do you tell if your swf takes too long to load? Well, if the reviewer from MySpace says that it loads blank, that's a really really good clue that it takes so long to load that the reviewer thought that it was dead. Your users are going to think the same thing when they start your app. Maybe the reviewer was 'wrong'. Well, guess what, each of the other people who try out your app will also be 'wrong', they will think your app is broken and they will get rid of it. Maybe it's 'not your fault'. Maybe it's cuz of some problem that MySpace has. Doesn't matter: you get the blame if your app doesn't start up. And it's something you need to fix. It shouldn't be hard, just some words in the very beginning, "Loading...". Something that moves would be nice too but optional.
