Submission denied email does not make any sense

Any idea what to do with this? Seems like a bug in MDP resulting in applications being denied for no reason.

    -----

Hi - Thank you for your submission to the MySpace Developer Platform. The MDP reviews all applications to ensure that they are compliant with our Terms of Service ( http://developer.myspace.com/community/myspace/termsOfservice.aspx ) and application guidelines ( http://developer.myspace.com/community/myspace/applicationguidelines.aspx ). Your current application does not meet our criteria for approval for the following reason:

"This application is currently pending review." Message is displayed.

Please update your application and resubmit. If you have questions, please check out our forums or documentation. Thanks! MDP Team DO NOT REPLY TO THIS EMAIL, THIS MAILBOX IS NOT MONITORED

Ugh.. I think I accidently responded to this on another thread sorry about that.

That was an error on our side.  If you are back in suspended mode, then re-evaluate your app and see if it's somewhere breaking the TOS or AGs.

Thanks for looking into this. From what I can tell it doesn't break ToS or AGs, so I'll resubmit it - if it's denied hopefully I'll get a more meaningful reason this time.

    This doesn't make any sense

A rejection reason I got in the email:

    Application Name: My Name
Reasons: Name cannot start with "My" or end with "Space". Copyright violation.

In the meantime there are at least 2 approved apps in the directory starting with "My":

    http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=354011302
    http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=354198879

What's going on, MySpace team? Are reviewers biased towards some developers? This is absolutely ridiculous and unfair.

In the meantime my other apps are suspended with no email, no reason whatsoever.

Rhonda? Can you please find out or explain?

Got the same email again for the same app:

Your current application does not meet our criteria for approval for the following reason:

Reasons: This application is currently pending review.

    The bug came back?

Re: This doesn't make any sense

Thanks. Also, just got another "does not make sense" email:

Reasons: This application is currently pending review and it references css outside of MySpace domain.

There are no CSS files included anywhere whatsoever. I'm completely lost as to what's going on and why are reviewers just making up reasons to suspend my apps?

Is "My Name" the App? Because I can tell you right now that the name violates the ToS -- you cannot use the words "My", "Space", or "MySpace" in the name of your App. I'm not sure if that's why you've rejected, but I can tell you it's one of the reasons you aren't getting through.

Iwill check into this when I can get back online. Sorry for the delay (sent on blackberry)

Re: Submission denied email does not make any sense

I must have missed that part then. This is fine if that's the case, however, there are approved apps in the directory starting with "My" ....

    http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=354011302
    http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=354198879

    ToS says:

" including, without limitation, by using “MySpace,” “My,” “Space,” “FIM,” “Fox” or any variations, abbreviations or misspellings of the foregoing in your MySpace Application’s name or URL to the right of the top level domain name; "

Not sure this covers names just starting with a word "My".

Suspended and can't unpublish or test

After submitting my app ("True Secrets") once, it was suspended. On my "My Apps" page the status is listed with status "Suspended", there is a "Hide" button, but it is disabled. I can edit the code, but on my user profile page, all that is displayed is "True Secrets is currently suspended". Is there no way to fix, re-test and re-submit without creating a new app?

  • App Status: Suspended

Re: Suspended and can't unpublish or test

It should be kicked back to Development mode, either soon or immediately. Our friendly MDP Team member usually on top of this sort of thing is having internet troubles, but hopefully she'll see this as soon as she's back.

Honestly, I can't answer that. Maybe some don't get screen as closely as others; it appears its all being done by hand, so there's going to be some amount of human error. But if you can't seem to find a reason (confirm it has an icon and description, and aren't outside the US, if you are, you'll have to change your internationalization settings, and confirm you aren't using <iframe> or external files -- script, css, or otherwise -- on your profile or home surfaces: those seem to be the two biggest reasons) then that would be the one I'd eliminate next.
