There is also a bug on the new profile where adjustHeight is not working correctly. We are working on a fix right now for it.

One of the things I'd like to see is the ability to add our own custom modules, without using any HTML hacks. Kinda like multiple "About Me" sections per page. I suppose we /could/ add the HTML to close one module and open a new one at the end of the "Interests" section to achieve this, but a proper way to do so would be very nice.

This is the one reason I'm using a "div overlay" layout; I can have as many boxes as I want on the page. Helps me spread out information across my page instead of having it ALL in the one "about me" section.

Also, perhaps this is a bug: I've been adding apps to and removing apps from my test profile, but the profile itself still shows the old apps (which are now removed, and one of the removed apps (Own Your Friends) just says "OpenSocial request failed."). seems like it's being cached or something?

This explains apps now. Since you can't add anything to your profile with html codes. (pics, videos, music players) You have to get an app if you want to put anything on your profile other than plain text. :(

one thing i found to be lacking in profile 2.0 is control over the background image, such as tile, vertical, horizontal or no-repeat; positioning of background image, and for the image to scroll or to be fixed.

also the fact that html on text in blurbs etc. seems to be disabled so i can't change the style, font, color, size or alignment on specific pieces of the text; there's only the choice to have all the text one colour, one alignment etc.

i know this is only early days and there will be a lot of improvement, but i just want to give some feedback on some basic things that i find importnat.

2)When that opens up the 2.0 editor, at the top right hand corner of the page you will see the words "Go Back" with an arrow next to it.

3)Click on this and Go back to 1.0

ok guys i got it.... at the top of the profile editor page look in the very top right. it should say "go back", "control panel" and "modules"...... click "go back" then a box will apear..... click "switch to profile 1.0" and there you go :)

I think its ok.  It may need more time to get fully accepted as the customization is still not fully there.  Would be nice to adjust the size of each section as well as box within the section.

Up to current the only issue I have been having with it is changing th background image.  Seems no matter where I link one from it won't show or it labels as "image moved or deleted".

To the programmers:

- When will the settings for viewing by category be security-based rather than code-based?

- When you edit your heading and go into basic info, you can't scroll or resize the inner window to save settings or view everything (Right now you have to go to the regular page edit, go to basic settings and do it from there, then go back to Customize your profile to publish it)

- needs to be a way to browse for myspace pics or photobucket pics to use for backgrounds rather than just copying and pasting a url (I don't want to get out of the editor to go get a url from my photos and open everything back up)

Interests all the way down to heroes are lumped together with the friend category viewability, but each section has a checkbox to show it or not.

IF YOU WANT TO GO BACK TO PROFILE 1.0 - THE OLD PROFILE FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS

1.) Under edit profile, find where it says 'Customize' (which is under View Profile and Account Settings, you'll find it in the upper right hand corner) Oviously, click that.

2.) When you come to your profile, and it has the edit box, find where it says 'Go Back' with an arrow in front of it (that will be in the upper right hand corner,  the first link that is going in the vertical direction (ie. left to right) And obviously, click that.

3.) A box with appear telling you that you won't be able to move modules and other thinks of the sorts, click "OK".

4.) To make sure that what you did worked, view your profile. If it worked, you'll find everything that you had before there. If Profile 2.0 is still set as your profile, something went wrong, so I suggest trying it again, or finding some other persons directions, if that still doesn't work, your out of luck.   : )

By the way, Profile 2.0 is an amazing improvement for myspace. Good job. : )

I spent hours trying to figure this thing out, and when I did, I have to say, it's friggin SICK. If you're patient enough to go through everything, you'll realize how much easier it is. It's fully customizeable, you don't have to use the themes Tom gives you.

I actually LIKE the 2.0. I put a really cool layout on there yesterday from Pyzam's new 2.0 layout. It was there yesterday and I out it in the CSS box like I was supposed to, I clicked Publish like I was supposed to. I did it RIGHT, and it worked yesterday, and today, no matter what I do, it reverts to one of those default themes. I am really getting frustrated! Please help, anyone that knows what's going on. bug, was working fine but not anymore.

before on 1.0 you wouldnt accept the "#" sign, for example if you wanted to set a color, the web standard would be "color: #FFFFFF", but myspace 1.0 would replace the "#" sign with "&#035;" and the color would not work, so instead of "color: #FFFFFF" you would use ""color: FFFFFF" and that would work, now with 2.0, "color: #FFFFFF" would work and not "color: FFFFFF", which was great until today, myspace again started replacing the "#" sign with "&#035;" and now, neither method works.

You guys really need to figure out which way you want to go becuase you guys r really frustrating your user with 2.0 and everyone is going to end up using 1.0 again; which I think is shame because myspace editor should of been like 2.0 from the beginning.

P.S. I know you can set the colors from advanced edit section but that only set the base color's,  how about when users what to set different colors in different sections?

This is brand new guys, so there's going to be bugs and glitches and they'll be fixed, so calm down.

What I like about it:

-Being able to remove modules/tables (instead of just hiding them with HTML)

-More privacy options

My qualms about it:

-I'm not big on CSS, mainly because I don't know it that well, but I do know HTML and wish that HTML would be allowed instead.

-I don't like the fact that the width of the modules/tables can't be changed.

-I don't like the way the new "top friends" is arranged. Does it have to be 5 across?

-Still can't make your own modules/tables (like I created my own "details" table with my own custom answers)

Now, in my opinion, it would have just been easier to change the way modules work and add more privacy options than to change the whole way pages are designed.

If anything, change should be gradual. This was a huge slap in the face change for users and it's freaking them out.

omg kaay to get 1.0 back go to the drop down profile link on the top you know like home etc. click customixe profile and then on the very top right it will say go back with an arrow click it hit back to 1.0 and ok and your done

If u want to downgrade the profile u have 2 go edit profile then press Customize and at the top right corner u will see button saying ( go back) press that and select 1.0 version.

As good as the concept is, to be honest the new profile 2.0 drove me nuts trying to figure it all out. Sometimes the most simple things in life are often the best so I have reverted back to 1.0 again.  Throw coolchasers.com into the mix in creating my layout and you have a serious migraine waiting to happen.

I find I'm very limited with my colour schemes and adding my own little creative things with the profile 2.0 customiser.

Profile 1.0's customising was much more lenient and you were able to do a whole lot more.

how to remove it:

1) Click on the profile drop down at the top of your myspace hompage and click on the Customize link.  

2)When that opens up the 2.0 editor, at the top right hand corner of the page you will see the words "Go Back" with an arrow next to it.

3)Click on this and Go back to 1.0

It's not so bad. Playing around with it has been interesting. The bug I found is that my profile was set private before I transfered to 2.0 and now I am not able to make my blog or photos public again despite the fact I've selected all the public options both in the editing of my profile and on the individual blogs and photo albums.  If anyone know a way to jimmie it back to public let me know.

I have done exactly what was recommended to get back to 1.0 BUT IT DOES NOT WORK!!! So please dont talk down to us about it and repeat a command that does not work. 1. Click 'edit profile' from your MySpace Home page.

2. Towards the upper right corner under 'View My Profile' and 'Account Settings', click 'Customize'.

Just go and edit your profile under customize on the edit profile page. Then on the top buttons, one shuold say 'Go Back' . Click that. Hope that helps..

I like the new profile... I added a new layout from freecodesource.com and some of the layout showed but on my Interest and Comments the background was that ugle default blue and orange color and the module headers weren't the way they were previewed. I tried several different layouts and they are all the same... Is anyone else having this problem or is it just me?

I have a question. i am trying to do my profile with the 2.0 but i can't seem to get the background to be fixed so it doesn't scroll or tile up either direction. when i did the preview the background was there just needed help with the fix part of it but now the background isn't showing up at all. is there anyway to fix that problem where we can just add the background and make all the boxes transparent like in the old style?

i really like the new 2.0 it's way cleaner looking and easy to use in terms of backgrounds etc. but i do have a question:

how do i get just my "blurbs" box thingy out of the left column and into the middle of my profile??? right now all of my profile is aligned very strangely all on the left side of my page. i've tried to use the formatting options provided by myspace to change it up but they don't seem to do anything except i think one just stretches everything out across my page.

I do not see how to turn on 2.0, or how to edit my now white profile, and when I click MORE MYSPACE and then choose "Profile Editor" from the left menu, it just takes me to my site. To change the 3 small default pictures on 2.0 click on Edit Profile and then go to Basic Info and scroll down.

Why don't you'll just teach myspace uses binary or Hex I know them both I play around not long with 1.0 all was ok then upgraded to 2.0 and I'v been here almost 5 day 24/5 and I'm still lost. I can get to customize profile got my page just the way I like it only I can see it. now I know that in the back ground, content,modules,module Headers,module Bodies, I have to put some type of stylesheet text/css Script. I'm not a progarmmer although their should be a way to view source for each module copy and paste. I used the page editor for  profile 2.0 If I'm looking  at the my new 2.0 profile and every thing is working and put in the place color and all, then some where I should be able to get the right script, you'll have these people so confussed you are going to lose a lot of people on this site. I can see 2.0 is a better profile and I will not go back to 1.0 but most people are. Some way this has got to enprove and fast I have read about some many platforms not funny not sure what for what . I'm not sure if I totally like version 2 yet but I'm going to try it since it  is new and the team worked to get it up and running.  I'm sure the reports of problems with it will serve to troubleshoot it and get it going smoothly.  I prefer to select my own theme from any site I choose and am not yet sure if I can do that.  Time will tell

I didn't like profile 2.0 at first but the more I messed with it I love it now...the only problem I am having with it is all of my top friends do not show I have a top 31 and only 26 are showing up....how can I get them all to show?

I was under the impression that 2.0 was somehow supposed to give you more customizability with less manually created CSS.  No more need to try and figure out how deep the table nesting goes in order to make modifications to specific modules/sub-modules.  (Which is a pain in the butt without named tables and documentation.)  Have I missed something?

NOTE:  The ability to CUSTOMIZE your profile is the big distinguisher between MySpace and FACEBOOK!

It seems as if you still have to resort to CSS to do things as simple as making backgrounds invisible (to show whatever background is beneath that one).  It seems to require you to show every last nested table,  and it doesn't even let you modify all of them!  (Again, without resorting to CSS, which is what I was doing in the first place... so why change to 2.0?)

I like the additional layouts with column widths already laid out for you (That is a thorn in my side in 1.0), but what else have we really gained?  Why do we now have to choose between Mood and Quote?  Why do we have to show the last three picture uploads, although other aspects of the page header can now be made private?

The "View All Friends" link has dissapeared in 2.0.

So now I just can show the number of friends set as maximum to be shown in the main page, no way to see the rest.

I am trying out the "ninja" layout. I especially like the way the blog section looks. I have one problem, my friends photos are tiny and hard to see. Is there a way I can bring them back to their normal size? I didn't have this problem with any of the other layouts I tested. Please advise. Thanks.

how do you add the three pictures to the profile thats why i dont understand how to do

I have the same problem with my 3 pictures now.  I didn't used to! If I use a layout/theme MySpace has developed, my extra 3 pictures in the upper right hand corner show up.  But if I use a 3rd party 2.0 layout, the 3 pictures do not display.  I've read the code over and over and can't see where to enable/disable that feature.

I know how to change my 3 pictures...but they're not showing up now.  Guess it's the layout that's overriding it.  Anyone know the CSS code to put back in the layout I got from a 3rd party?

how do u go back to version 1.0?

I'm mellowing on 2.0 now that I went to one of these outside profile generators and got what I wanted (more or less).

But I went through their CSS styles and they name a lot of DIVs that I've never heard of in order to produce it.  DOCUMENT THESE THINGS in an easy to access, preferably GUI based manner.

Why is it not available for musicians?

Profile 2.0 is wonderful except in Internet Explorer at least, my View All Friends link in the Friend Space module disappeared and I cannot retrieve it.  I am still waiting to hear if My Space will be addressing this issue as others have the same problem apparently.  In the meantime, I have copied and pasted a link in my General Category that provides View All Friends link.  Thank you.

At first I wasnt sure, because I generally like the classic stuff, but as it turns out, I was able to make my page exactly like it was at 1.0, minus my banner and my friend box, but I can handle losing those :)

Okay, this is the second time I have attempted to make a 2.0 page. First time got my 1.0 code converted but it looked like crap on 2.0. Went and redid my whole page and now I can't get the section of the main box with the pics to have the same background as the rest of the box. I have seen it the same on others so why is it not working here? Also, my entire right side of the page is not taking the background as well. Some help would be nice. Thanks

how do i downgrade my myspace?

We click the upgrade button..it appears as if we are upgrading and then it refreshing back to the original page asking us to upgrade. Weeks and weeks we have been trying. And apparently i am not the only one with this issue. We have tried on multiple computers and in multiple updated browsers. Apparently people that signed up before 2007 are having these issues. Its a shame myspace tech support isnt too strong because they dont address the problem, and they return your help form with a generic reply that doesn't pertain whatsoever to the problem. Shame. I wish they would fix it.

I've been trying to get an answer to an issue I'm having with my blog and have been getting no where.  I have my blog listed as public but only my friends can read my blog...any idea y?

I'm new to myspace and so I didn't have the 1.0 experience that most of you do.  Also, I'm not very technical and so I had planned on finding an existing CSS style sheet and using it.  But I couldn't find one I liked so I used "Advanced edit" and not even knowing what I was doing I muddled through and now have a page I really like.  It may not be the best but it's my own personal thing!

I LOVE 2.0!  It's great for CSS dummies like me!  I know just enough about HTML to be able to do a few things and I can still use it where I want to.  I haven't finished perfecting my site but I did do my first blog on Profile 2.0 and the challenges and how I was able to get through them.  If anyone wants to see how I used "advanced edit" to get what I want I invite you to my site.  If I can help you just send me a message.  I think so many here are really advanced and so this is great for those of us who AREN'T!!!

Btw....my site isn't complete yet! I have just got the basics and now I will go about adding the apps I want.  That shouldn't be too difficult but I may be back here asking for help.

Don't any of you dare to upgrade unless you want to spend hours trying to figure out how to down grade. This upgrade is horrible and very unfriendly for the user.  

How you down grade:

1. Click the profile link and go to customize profile.

2. When the editor is open at the very top on the right side is a "go back to profile 1.0". Click it and read. Click what you want.

3. Then, soak yourself in the joy of not having a shitty profile upgrade!

I am just curious why it is that there is no way to skip to the previous 1.0 configuration page.. 2.0 seems a bit imposed. Perhaps you would add some "developement" that allows you to port your previous page over into the new 2.0. I can't understand why you wouldn't be able to. All of the settings from 1.0 are hosted on YOUR servers. All of our information is there. It would not be difficult. Instead in order to beta your new project you force people to completely redesign their page. Hrmph.

I agree entirely, this is ridiculous. 2.0 just isn't very friendly. I put a lot of time into designing my profile weekly as a hobby, I just don't want to if 2.0 is my only option. I went back to 1.0 but can't edit it anymore. That's very passive-aggressive. I'm hoping it's just a glitch and not intentional. I've thought about the possibility that I just don't like change, but I love change, I just don't like the layout options. This is just silly.  

After the user has upgraded and then returned to 1.0, you still render the UserStyle CSS link, and there is no way to remove it.

I hate change .. BUT after upgrading (& hating it once), I decided to try it out again tonight .. and after messing with it for several hours .. I really must say I like it so far .. now that I'm getting used to it, ALTHOUGH there's a few things that still are confusing me ..

If you want to change back to 1.0 go to CUSTOMIZE PROFILE (the place where you change templates in 2.0) and at the top above publish you will see a link to GO BACK TO 1.0. Hope that help everyone.

its not working for me - you mention click to try 2.0 it takes me to my edit profile - i've heard its in the edit profile as an option for 2.0 I do not have that option. I want to upgrade there's no way for me to.

After reading almost all of these comments about changing back to profile 1.0, I have tried clicking on the go back link and the window pops up and the only option it gave me was "starting from scratch".  Any ideas about this? I would really like to go back to profile 1.0 also.  thanks.

I signed up with Myspace a little while ago and it automatically set my my profile to 2.0, my mates have 1.0 and it looks a lot better. I've tried the "go back" button, but it only gives me the option of "start from scratch." Which doesn't revert my profile to 1.0 it just clears my 2.0 profile back to scratch. Is there a solution to this? Or am I stuck with 2.0?

I tried 2.0 a while back and hated it. However as I was laid up with a sprained ankle for a week, I began to explore it's possibilities and knopw why it is an upgrade. The ability to design a public and private page is easy with the individual module privacy settings. I would like to see the ability to add more modules that can be placed anywhere on the page. I found a CSS code for a custom module but it only attatched itself to the About me or interests. I am talking totally free standing blank modules that have the customization and privacy options of the original modules. I am sure that developers will soon embrace and start writing codes for 2.0 . Without change there is no forward motion.

Why have you made profile 2.0 mandatory? you should give users the option of picking whichever they prefer, and I prefer profile 1.0 and am upset that I can't switch back anymore.

If you're a new user, why can't you try out Profile 1.0?

i hate 2.0.  i'm going to delete my profile and use facebook if i cant switch back, i've been on mypace for years and im really annoyed i dont get answers from toms page

MySpace needs to allow the user to place their own blank module for HTML/CSS [etc...] instead of traditionally placing it inside the information box... which is annoying and odd looking. I'm angered over this app deal because there's no need for having when HTML [etc...] can be posted directly from the developer's website into the users MySpace profile account. Assumed quote, "we don't allow such actions for security reasons". This doesn't make sense since the user can still insert HTML [etc...] inside their information spaces, but looks incredibly tacky/ugly. Allowing users to create their own modules with HTML/CSS would be a step forward and attract some users back to Facebook. I've heard and are considering myself switching to another social network.

BUT, i found a way to get back to 1.0 profile.

you post a blog and in the subject line you enter the word : test

and in the body you only enter the word : test

then you make it public and you publish it.

THEN you go to Customize profile  under "PROFILE" between "mail" and "friends" .. and you click CUSTOMIZE.

then you click "Go back to 1.0 Profile" in the top right hand corner (it has an arrow beside it)... then you click "Switch to 1.0" and... WALA ! you get your old 1/0 profile back :D

Help! Its a bug on the customize page. I can go through the tutorial but when its done cannot click on anything. I want to go back to 1.0. I want to just be able to go to any of the editing that I want to do and be able to click on what I want to do.

I think that they 2.0 Profile is really horrible,  but apparantly anyone joining MySpace after 9th April '09 is not allowed to to have the 1.0 anymore. This totally sucks and it is unfair of MySpace not to allow newcomers the option of having either. That is why it asks you if you want to start from scratch instead of just letting you go back!

I honestly hate profile 2.0 and that "after April 2nd it doesn't switch back" *** is bullshit. My account had been registered since 2007. I tried 2.0 when it first came out and immediately switched back. It worked just fine. My friend registered sometime in May and hers could switch back. So the other day I decided to try 2.0 one more time and at the top of the page it clearly says "Go Back to Profile 2.0" but yet the "go back" button is gone. I ended up thinking I was slick and made another myspace, which also has the "Go Back to Profile 2.0" at the top of the page but yet doesn't work so why the hell is the option there??

Ok well i changed my profile to 2.0 and well i HATE IT and when i go to customize profile and hit the button that says go back to 1.0 it doesn't let me go back. All of my friends have had this problem too. So if this could be FIXED i would very much appreciate it. && p.s i didn't just make my profile ive had it for about 3 years.

when you go to "customize profile" and go to "advanced edit" there has to be something where you can remove the borders around each section if you're using the "default" theme.

my issue with 2.0 is that in my blurbs, "about me section" text is not visible at all after I update and/or publish. Its as if I have not entered any text at all. Can someone please tell me why or if I am missing something! Also, in my pics the comments and views by my friends are not registering. You can reset all modules, the page theme, and the layout to look like a standard profile by clicking "Start from scratch". This is how Tom's profile looks. I am having problems on my 'customize my profile' in myspace... For some reason when I click on it to customize my profile or to simply do any changes the box with the instructions pop up but then when I go on clicking either on my modules, or select theme or even click on a theme picture I can't do any of that. seems to be frozen .... can anyone help me with that?
