Greetings Developers!
I wanted to elaborate a little more on some changes to
Data Availability.
If you remember, a few weeks ago an 'installable'
checkbox appeared when you edit your application details.
What does installable mean?
Installable means that the app can be added to your users' home/profile surfaces. It also means that it is an Opensocial app, as opposed
to an external app, (which has installable unchecked). Installable unchecked
identifies the app as external for Data Availability.
Developers can change their installable status for
those apps that never went live. Any LIVE app loses the ability to change the
installable status, and the checkbox is grayed out.
Any app, which has Installable unchecked, also won’t have
access to Edit App Source page and tab.
Any developer who attempts to uncheck the installable
checkbox will receive a warning stating that their source code is going to be
deleted. Upon un-checking then saving, all the source code for that app will be
deleted.
The reason you lose the ability to edit your apps after
you uncheck this box, or receive the above mentioned warning message -is that
once you have marked your app as external, we no longer expect the source to be
hosted by MySpace.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Rhonda
