There's a New Sheriff in Town!

Greetings Developers!

I want you all to know that I've had an awesome time working with all of you. It's been a challenge to juggle these forums and working on content. Not just for MDP, but for DA, LMNOP and what not ;)

You may have noticed that I have not had as much time to spend here, and for that I apologize. With so many things to do and not enough time, we decided that some changes need to be made.   Without further ado, I’d like to inform you that MDP has hired a new Community Manager!

With a new Community Manager, we're hoping to build a bigger, better and stronger MDP community. You'll have someone who is available to you MORE, who will be spending a much larger amount of time in the forums, chat, working directly with developers, application specialists, and QA. The MDP CM will assist with tracking bugs, posting work-arounds and solutions, as well as prioritizing much needed documentation. This will effectively cut down on developer wait time, as well as build more effective communication all the way across the board.

This new Community Manager is… (Drum Roll) Me :]

I meant it when I said I have enjoyed working with all of you, and I wanted to be able to do it on wider scale.  This means that you have more of a right to message, harass, and send paper airplanes or any other form of communication to be sure that I am aware of any and all MDP issues.  I am also open to any and all suggestions to make this community stronger.

Thanks again to all of you! We couldn’t do this without you!

Rhonda

I've actually been working on a little app myself for the chatrooms you guys have on your site.  Link is in my URL.  You think someone official could take a look at it?

Why I am I having so much trouble getting approved to write apps.

I have applied multiple times, and have been consistently  ignored.

I have ideas, and lots of coding experience.

Right on, this is a great move!!!

Hey I have the same title at my company; I think that emphasis on the community, and devoting someone full time to meeting the needs of a company's users is absolutely the right thing to do.

In my case, I wound up publishing blogs and making, well, MySpace apps to reach more people!

Evan Hamilton (CM for Flock) is a terrific example of how community management can bolster a product's acceptance. he's available on twitter and skype, their forum, his blog etc. Makes such an enourmous difference.

Best of luck, and I hope that this gives you the time you need to help the MDP community.

best wishes,

Christopher O'Donnell
