Upcoming Canvas Width Change

The canvas page will be increasing in size this week. The size will go from 800 px to 960 px, most probably on Thursday June 12. Don't forget to adjust for this change!

All,

We apologize for not being able to give you more advanced notice than this, but with this week's deployment (probably Wednesday or Thursday) the canvas page will widen from 800px wide to 960px. This is the result of an overall site redesign by another team outside of MDP here at MySpace.

We would have liked to give you guys a little more heads up about this change, but unfortunately we were unaware of the impact of this change on the canvas page until recently. We apologize for any problems this causes you but hopefully in the next few days you can make any necessary adjustments to your canvas surface content and take advantage of the extra horizontal space.

As always, please let us know if you have any questions or comments.

Thanks,

Brandon

Will there be an option to keep our apps at 800px if we want, or will they all be forced to 960px?

The surrounding canvas area will be 960px wide for all applications.

If you choose not to use all that space, and don't mind the white space on either side of your application then it will be fine for  you to keep your app 800px wide. Your app won't be denied for maintaining an 800px width provided it meets all other criteria and it doesn't contain any major visual defects.

On external iframes, in firefox (it works in IE, not sure about other browsers) images set to 960px width are larger when placed on the body background or a div background, or in the img html tag without a set width attribute (which means it should be simpyl that images width)... Will this be fixed?
