OpenSocial Hackathon: Sunday, 6th of April (in London)

For those of you wo attended the MySpace Developer Platform launch event in London, we wanted to let you know about an upcoming OpenSocial hackathon event also in London.

This Sunday, the 6th of April, come jump into some code and learn how to get OpenSocail apps up and running on MySpace and other containers. Engineers from MySpace and Google will be on hand to help walk through code examples, and help you build your applications. This is a great opportunity to get started building OpenSocial applications.

BT has graciously volunteered to host this event at BT Centre, 81 Newgate Street. London EC1A 7AJ, just across from St. Paul's tube station, and we hope to see you there

The event will start at 11am and go as long as people can still type.  The event is totally free and of course, and of course there will also be sufficient quantities of beer and pizza.

If you're interested, please RSVP using the following form:

Looking forward to seeing you there!

There was one? Anybody go? anybody report it?

Is anybody going to this?

Any 'stars' from myspace?

From what I read before peeps attending are expected to bring laptops - I use flash and not sure of licencing issues after having to get new pc to cope with CS3 etc

Small fry

The London launch party was back at the start of February. It was a good chance to get a look at the system and to see the kind of things that opensocial is capable of (one of the myspace guys had rigged up an app that could talk to one of those nabaztag rabbit things. That was rather amusing).

I'm hoping that tomorrow will be a good learning experience and I'll be able to pick up some nice little hints & tips for working with OS in general and on the MDP in particular.

The next one should be held on a Saturday though because it's a right pain to get into London on a Sunday (probably not so bad if you're based in London I guess, but I think I've got to make 3 changes to get there when normally I'd get a train straight through!).

Should also make a good viewing spot for the olympic torch as that's meant to be passing through the St Paul's area down towards London Bridge at some point during the afternoon.

Hopefully I'll see some of you there tomorrow.
