Important REST API Code Update

We have recently rolled out an important code change that may be causing 401s in server to server requests to the REST API.  Server to server requests to http://api.msappspace.com will result in a 401 now.  The domain must be http://api.myspace.com.  The former domain is to be used for user-agent to api requests and the latter is only for server to server OAuth signed requests.

Our own API tool has not been changed to reflect this, but will be soon.

We apologize for the invconvenience, but this was a necessary security change.

Hello,

Neither of both domains work when using makeRequest from the user-agent (neither signed nor unsigned). A 401 error occurs all the time since this update.

Roger.

I have a dev environment of the same application (with a different appId) and that one works well. Maybe there are some servers of your cluster that are not synchronized with the latest version and prevents some application Ids to work properly.

Ok, this is my last post here. The error I was facing seems to be related with a different issue (see developer.myspace.com/.../1544.aspx for further info). Sorry for the confusion and for posting here.

OAuth signed requests should not be made from the user-agent to the API.  If you are trying to access either domain through our proxy via makeRequest, the request will be blocked.

Please use the Open Social Javascript library within your surface markup in order to access the MySpace API.

why was there no warning/transition period for this change? It seemed to be a major change followed by the announcement... shouldn't it be the other way around? This is also not the first time something like this has happened (prototype.js was pulled out without much warning).. isnt it a concern that users might lose attraction for apps if they see them break when things like this happen?

Hi, Can you people please document user-agent to api requests clearly? Or, shall we assume that all the operations for server to server requests are also valid for user-agent to api? I found that the former assumption is not working. I request you people to please clarify this to make Flex app developers life simpler.

Hi, sorry to miss this in my previous post. What is the equivalent of makerequest() in REST API (for user-agent to api).

My concern is to have all the opensocial equivalent REST API (user-agent to api) to be documented for the sake of those people who are developing their apps in pure flex.

Hi Paul, please find some time to throw light into these issues and give us (flex developers) relief.

every time i try to go to one of my apps, or do most anything else i get a message box in the middle of my screen that says; "an internal server exception has occurred! please contact Myspace REST API Team.

so, hopefully i'm in the right place for this, but anyways myspace has been really lagging bad lately, i know you all are doing the best you can to try and fix it all but, and i hope i'm not sounding rude in saying this, because this is not my intention, but it seems as if all the problems on myspace are doing just the opposite of what it should be getting which is better. myspace is a way kickin it site and i hope all the issues at hand are able to be fixed and very soon.

=Thank you for your time in this matter=
