Greetings and welcome again to the MySpace Developer site.
As Aber mentioned, we're currently in a sandbox phase. Here are the important points to understand about this phase:
- Your application profiles are private
- Your apps install on real MySpace accounts, but are limited to three installations
- If your app renders a profile module, it will only be visible to users who have that application installed
There are several purposes to this sandbox period. First, it lets you develop your applications in a real-world environment without exposing your app to the whole world. Second, it protects end-users while giving you the ability to test your apps on accounts of your choosing. Finally, the sandbox phase ensures a level playing field for all developers and their apps: no apps will get a leg-up on installations or exposure prior to our consumer launch.
In short, we hope the sandbox period provides you with a flexible and secure environment to code some great applications!
Lastly, I can't emphasize enough that we view the sandbox phase and the platform as a whole as a collaborative process. Let us know how well or not-well it's working for you by posting in our forums or contacting us directly.
